the farce

Watching this video of O'Reilly tearing into Obama with everything he's got - regardless of your political views - it's impossible not to understand you're watching two intelligent, fast-witted people with a deep understanding of the issues. Obviously I completely disagree with O'Reilly's viewpoint, but he argues it about as forcefully as possible in the short span of the interview, and Obama easily holds his own:

the contrast with Palin is just breathtaking. For all the conservative apologists whining about Charlie Gibson's brutal interviewing technique, this is calm, softball stuff compared to O'Reilly:

There's no doubt in my mind Biden could stand in for Obama in the O'Reilly interview and give a comprable performance. Frankly McCain has been looking a little senile and quick to lie lately, but given a slower paced grilling I'm sure he could defend his beliefs reasonably well

In contrast Palin simply does not know what the fuck she's talking about. She's like a kid reading her book report written off the Cliff Notes. Dig an inch below the surface and all you get is bullshit. Bullshit all the way down

Even if the tide is now turning against the inept and pathologically lying clown show that's become the GOP ticket, these have been some of the most frightening two weeks I've seen in American politics. Proof that a large section of voters don't care if there's no "there" there. Why don't we just let people text message in their votes like American Idol?
